When I Grow Up

i knew i wanted to be a mom in kindergarten when i grew up, then soon realized the next year that maybe a teacher would be better suited for me instead. Summer rolled around in early middle school and I would sketch out the latest fashion outfits on paper and the most epic house-design layouts that my family would live in eventually. a two story house with our own game room and pool. in high school i clung to art, it was my creative outlet. it got me a small scholarship to a small private school in Wisconsin. and the same went for college, because soon after my sophomore year my art professor questioned why i was taking so many classes but i never mentioned it as a major. he was right, i enjoyed them and if they fit into my schedule, i just HAD to take them. so along with my business degree, i managed to include a second major in art as well.

when i graduated i had not a single clue what i wanted to do. i enjoyed my marketing class and enjoyed tutoring other students for it. but i had limited experience and took a temp-job as a creative coordinator for the graphic design department at a local business near my hometown. it was the best decision, even if the pay wasn't the greatest, thank you student loans. but i thrived in that department and my eye for design, my love of marketing products and services, and working day in and day out with other creatives made each day enjoyable!

fast forward a couple years later, and i'm blessed to have a full time position with the City in the marketing department. a dream i thought would never be possible crossing that stage for my college graduation. i should have gave myself more credit but honestly i still don't know what exactly i want to be when i grow up. it constantly changes. i love social media, i love to design program guides and logos, photographing weddings and creating beautiful blog posts to share. right now i'd have to say twenty years from now my dream job would be: working part time at a Harley Davidson store, photographing weddings and families on the weekends and enjoying the week days traveling around to new locations would be ideal. dreams are dreams and let's all shoot for them!
