Nature-Inspired Northwoods Wedding in Manitowish Waters, WI // Matt + Robin
The North Lakeland Discovery Center venue was the perfect place for a Northwoods wedding for Matt and Robin! Their ceremony was surrounded by nature, on a beautiful amphitheater overlooking Statehouse Lake near their family and close friends. The day started out with a little rain, but that didn’t stop them at all. These two were made for adventures together (including a three-week trip to Canada when they lived out of their vehicle), but their wedding was the best adventure yet!
They wanted their wedding to be the best weekend ever, not just for them but for family and friends. Most found cabins and stayed the entire weekend, went fishing, hiking, and just enjoyed each other’s company.
These two met in high school but did not start dating until college.
Robin shared their engagement story best: “We had a weekend free in the beginning of December and decided we wanted to go for a winter waterfall hike. We had a couple places in mind, but settled on Copper Falls (somewhere we loved hiking the summer before) The week leading up to it was muddy and warm, but the morning of we got 6+ inches of beautiful snow. I (Robin) woke up eager to hit the road at sunrise & Matt was starting a TV show not ready to leave at all! Eventually we made our way to the park, hiked the snow covered trail, and came back around to the trail head. Matt convinced me we should retrace our steps just a little further since now there were other people's footprints and there might be someone up the trail that could take a nice christmas card photo for us. Matt practically dragged me up the hill to one of my favorite lookout points where I saw rose petals on the ground that hadn't been there before. He proposed, and then told me to turn around and smile.. and my step-sister Molly was taking photos! I was stunned. The whole time he was planning with her on a time and place to meet without getting caught. (even though she had a minor off road experience on the way there, it worked out perfect!) Then we crashed her airbnb in MI and had a totally unplanned blissful night in the snow covered cabin - with a sauna! Absolutely perfect.”
