Moundsville Country Club Wedding in Moundsville, WV // David + Hayli
When Hayli contacted me last year about photographing her wedding out in Moundsville, West Virginia, I was so excited! I love exploring new states and this was one of them, and that drive home through the mountains was incredible! David and Hayli's wedding was "perfect" for them with just touches of their personalities and interests shining through. Hayli's engagement ring is starship from Star Trek, seriously it awesome! These two met at an Honor's Academy their Junior year of High School, a "smart kid's summer camp" as Hayli called it. After that summer they met, they parted ways but come to find out at college they were not only on the same campus, in the same building, on the same floor, just 2 doors down from each other. How crazy is that?
The two were engaged on a beach during a family vacation, his entire family knew. Patrick took Hayli out to the dunes one morning, it was over a half hour drive away to a more clamer spot on the beach. Patrick asked Hayli "What's that?" and pointed. He said "Thought I saw something" and he told Hayli he found some treasure. He showed her a perler bead made Legend of Zelda chest, knelt down, and opened it up, inside was a ring box. He took it out, opened that up to show the Star Trek ring she had hoped for. When they headed back everybody was waiting with champange to celebrate with them!
On the morning of the wedding Hayli got ready with her matron of honor at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV. Patrick's cousin had come up that morning to do her hair. Patrick got ready at his family home and ceremony took place at Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Moundsville. She walked down the aisle to Patrick's mother playing a Star Trek song. The reception was at the Moundsville Country Club. That gorgeous cake you see below, was made by Patrick's mother. It was a day filled with family and laughs. These were so unbelieveably relaxed, and I think Hayli described it best about the their relationship: "True love doesn't feel like a vacation, it feels like home, and as long as I have Patrick with me, it's like Voltaire said, 'Wherever my travels may lead, happiness is where I am." I wish you two all the best, it was such a fun day to celebrate with your family and friends.
