Rustic Winter Wedding at Brighton Acres in Oshkosh, WI // Zachary + Kim
Zachary and Kim celebrated their wedding day at the beautiful Brighton Acres barn venue grounds in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on LEAP DAY! How cool is that? During the winter, photography timelines change just a bit because sunset for these two was before 6:00PM. So they spent most of the day together, starting with a very informal “first look” at the bar together with their close family and friends behind them.
We were able to capture most of the bridal party fun and even family photographs before these two walked down the aisle. With the beautiful mix of dark green, blush pink and gold, their decoration shined as they used the space for both their ceremony and reception. So creative! We did go outside for bridal party and bride + groom photographs, everyone was such troopers as the cold wind was not in our favor most of the afternoon.
The biggest thing that Zachary and Kim wanted on their wedding day was for their guests to have fun, and they absolutely did. From a catered BBQ style dinner to dancing well into the night, their wedding day was a fantastic one filled with ones who they care about most. Zachary and Kim’s laughs are so contagious, you can’t help but smile every single time you see them together.
How Did You Two Meet:
Zach and I "met" through a drunk dial. I met a guy named Ben (Zach's friend from high school who is one of our groomsmen) when we were freshmen at UW-Stevens Point. Some friends were drinking in the dorms and I was drunkenly calling random people from Ben's cell phone contact list. Zach happened to be one of those phone calls. He was driving from Green Bay to Shawano and was bored so he talked to me for a good 20 minutes on the phone. So we met via a drunk dial. The next time we "talked" was when Zach drunkenly called me back a few weekends later to "return the favor" of my drunk dial. After that, we met in person a few times since Ben was our mutual friend and the rest is history! :)
Share Your Engagement Story With Us:
Zach proposed at Grays Lake in Des Moines. We woke up on February 2, 2019, which was a super sunny and warm day for February. Zach suggested we go for a walk on the trails and paths at Grays Lake. There's a really long bridge that goes over the entire lake from one side to the other and Zach proposed in the middle of the bridge. Both of us think the whole "proposing" thing is so awkward and we had talked many times in the past that we both wanted something low-key, simple, and no other people around. He simply stopped on the bridge and pulled the ring out! No long speech, nothing glamorous, not even down on one knee - but just the way he knew I'd want it!
